Seattle, WA - February 18, 2004 -
Come hear Les Pickering, Principal, P2 & Greg Tucker, President & CEO,
Bay Cities Container Group and at the upcoming Spring Meeting April
21-24, 2004 at the Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert,
CA were they will lead you through a workshop on Set-Up Reduction.
The core of the Lean Enterprise is the ability to provide what the
customer needs at the speed of demand without waste of time, material,
or human capital. Customer driven converters meet the demand of the
ship date often at the expense of the production schedule, lead time,
cost efficiency, and quality.
In this workshop will you will learn how to reduce your change over
times by half. You will hear from those who have increased the
flexibility and responsiveness of their processes, decreased their lead
times, and improved crew involvement and motivation.
Les Pickering, Principal, P2 has been raising productivity in the
packaging industry for more than 25 years. He draws on his
international lean production experience to improve both machine and
crew performance. Set up reduction, has been one of Les' passions since
1989; the year his team first maintained an average changeover of less
than six minutes on a Bobst Autoplaten. As a founding associate of
P-Squared he co-leads the team to identify and eliminate organizations
process and people constraints for sustained profitability. Through
work in Europe and his new home, the USA, Mr. Pickering has gathered
best practices and continues to create new ones.
Greg Tucker began working for Bay Cities Container as a sample maker
while attending school and worked in every department in the company.
Entered into the Sales Department in 1982 and became the top sales
person shortly there after. In 1995 became the President of Bay Cities
and lead the company through a buyout of the Estate of Bill Hanan in
2000. From that point on Bay Cities began an intense focus of 7 S and
OEE as the tools to our survival as an Independent Sheet Plant on the
West Coast. Region One Director, ICPF Board Member, New World Services
